I did this route, and it was a blast. Plenty of gravel and a few dirtish sections. There are a few road closed sections, but they are bridges out for cars, and a bike will fit through the barricades. The last 68 miles has more road, but it's mainly getting you back to Williams Dam.

How would you feel about taking an Africa Twin out on it?

You'll be completely fine. If you start at Williams Dam, there is a bridge out about 20 miles in. You can squeeze through on a KTM 890, but it’s a tight fit between the concrete barriers. If you don’t feel comfortable, just turn around—there’s an easy bypass that will get you right back on track.
