Join us for the 38th annual Buffaloe 500 AMA National Dual Sport and Adventure Rides hosted by Stoney Lonesome MC in Columbus, Indiana. Two rides each day, a Dual Sport ride and an Adventure ride. The Dual Sport ride is single track dirt connected by public roads. The Adventure ride is paved and gravel public roads (no dirt, no single track).
300 Dual Sport rider limit per day to offer a premium riding experience and protect our trails.
Registration: Mandatory Riders meeting at 8am Saturday and Sunday.Registration/Check-In hours - Friday 5:30pm-8pm, Saturday and Sunday 6:30am-8am.
SLMC has moved to LiveLaps fully online registration. Online registration is now even available the day of the ride, although more expensive if you wait until the day of the event. We recommend you setup your account and get registered early to save time and money on the event days.
"Walk-up" registrants can use our kiosk computers to setup your LiveLaps account (free) and get registered.
Camping- Free primitive camping and RV parking. Generators welcome. We offer indoor restrooms and newly remodeled showers. Opens Friday at noon.
Dual Sport Ride - Online Registration - Both Days - $149 ($180 for same day registration) Single Day - $83 ($100 for same day registration) Includes Saturday evening hog roast and lunch both days.
Adventure Ride - Online Registration - Both Days - $47 ($55 for same day registration) Single Day - $27 ($35 for same day registration) Includes Saturday evening Hog Roast. Lunch is included Saturday only.
The Dual Sport ride is around 100 miles each day. Around 50 miles are dirt single track over 11 different properties. 300 rider limit per day to offer a premium riding experience and protect our trails. The properties ridden are only open to the public once a year for the Buffaloe. This is your one chance this year to ride single track in and around beautiful Brown County, Indiana on private property. A route sheet will be provided at the ride. Additionally, GPS tracks will also be emailed out by Wednesday before the ride. The route and properties are the same both days.
The Adventure ride is around 150-200 miles each day of paved back roads and gravel. No dirt. No single track. GPX tracks for your GPS will be emailed out to those registered by Wednesday before the ride. No route sheet provided. No chase truck or sweep rider provided. The route is different both days.
Lunches are included with your dual sport ride. Adventure riders - lunch is included Saturday only. Sunday you will ride past many restaurants to stop at.
All bikes must be street legal with license plate and riders must have a valid motorcycle endorsement and insurance. (learners permits are not allowed per the AMA Recreational Rulebook.)
AMA Membership required. "Event pass" AMA memberships available for purchase online on the AMA website or at Stoney Lonesome for $25. YES, if you're planning to purchase an "Event pass" you can still register online. Register online, then purchase the "Event pass" on the AMA website or at Stoney. You can purchase an event pass at any time and just list the event dates. Please bring your event pass receipt email.
To purchase an AMA event pass, go to the AMA website, click join AMA, create a profile and purchase an event pass. There is no separate link for event pass purchases. It's under "Join/Renew".
Saturday night hog roast ($10 non-rider) at 6pm, door prizes at 7pm and band 7-9pm.
Dual Sport Riders – Lunch will be back at Stoney both days. The fuel trailer will no longer be needed as it will be 50 miles from start back to Stoney for lunch and your fuel can, then 50 miles after lunch for the ride then back to Stoney.
If fuel range might be an issue, we recommend carrying a 1.5 L (0.4gal) fuel bottle in a backpack. Highly recommend this ebay seller for fuel bottles. We purchase from them. Aggressive dirt tires are HIGHLY recommended for the Dual Sport trails. 50/50 dual sport tires are not aggressive enough and are not recommended.

Half of all proceeds go towards sponsoring local elementary schools with the "All Kids Bike" program which makes learning to ride a bike part of kindergarten PE class using Strider Bikes. AllKidsBike.org
If a minor is riding, the minor must have a valid motorcycle endorsement, an insured street legal motorcycle, and a minor release is required to be signed by BOTH mother and father. All riders, including minors, must have a valid motorcycle endorsement (learners permit is not allowed) and bike must be street legal and insured. Release can be found here - Microsoft Word - 584371.doc (americanmotorcyclist.com). We highly recommend that you complete the Annual AMA Minor Release Form on the AMA website. This Annual AMA Minor Release Form will automatically be validated in our registration system and is valid at most AMA events nationwide.
