2023 Backer Adventure Tour
KY Iron Furnace Ride
Info From Organizer–
It’s time again to make your plans to join the BAT ’23! Â
Â
I’m taking us to Northeastern Kentucky this year, to some areas I haven’t really seen any unorganized adventure rides in before. But it’s a rich landscape, with plenty of fun and historic treasures. We’ll be on the hunt this year for Kentucky’s historic Iron Furnaces, as pictured. We’ll see at least 6, maybe more great examples of these awesome relics of 18th and 19th century pioneering!
Â
I’ll be riding the route myself on the weekend of May 5th – 7th, and I’ll be camping at Zilpo Campgrounds on Cave Run Lake. I have site 038 reserved for May 4th – 8th. It would be great to see fellow ADVRiders camping and riding this same weekend! You can make reservations for Zilpo Campground at the following link, and you may want to hurry, as it appears to be filling up already:Â https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232370
Â
It will be a base camp ride this year, so we can easily bring our rv’s & campers, and comfortably sleep in them each night. There are several other campgrounds and camping options available nearby, including Twin Knobs campground and Clear Creek campground, among others. For anyone really wanting to rough it, I just enjoyed a weekend stay at Paragon Dispersed Camping Area – free to camp! No facilities or reservations.
